Thinkfest not run by Tehelka,Tejpal's most profitable firm behind it

Since being accused of sexual assault, more details are emerging about former editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal's business dealings and the firms that are associated with Tehelka.After the revelation that minister Kapil Sibal may have a small stake in the firm that publishes the magazine, it has now been revealed that THiNK fest is not really organised by Tehelka at all.[caption id="attachment_1247979" align="alignleft" width="380"] AFP[/caption]Thinkworks, the company that organises the festival, is owned by Tejpal, his sister Neena and managing editor Shoma Chaudhury, and its owners claim that the only link it has with Tehelka is that Thinkworks buys advertisement space in the magazine, said an Indian Express report.Thinkworks is among the five companies promoted by Tejpal and is the most profitable, having earned Rs 14.2 crore this year. Most of the sponsors of the THiNK fest, however, believed that they were associated with an event with the magazine."Our understanding of the event is that it is organised by Tehelka magazine." a spokesperson for Essar, the event's principal sponsor was quoted as saying.Earlier reports had documented the shareholding pattern in Anant Media that owns the Tehelka magazine in which Trinamool Congress MP KD Singh is a majority stakeholder.Other shareholders of Anant Media are Tarun Tejpal (19.25 percent), Weldon Polymers (5.87 percent), Priyanka Gill (2.14 percent), Rajasthan Patrika (1.96 percent), Neena Sarma (1.55 percent), Ram Jethmalani (0.08 percent), Kapil Sibal (0.04 percent) and Tejpal family and others (3.36 percent).
