Ten jail wardens suspended in Arunachal Pradesh

The army chief also admitted that the incident happened due to security lapse and negligence of staff on duty.

Itanagar: Ten wardens of the district Jail at Jully near here, have been suspended following the recent incident of jailbreak when three under trial prisoners (UTPs) escaped by climbing the 18 feet high security wall, official sources said today. "The wardens have been suspended as per the preliminary enquiry on the jail breakout incident of 24 August last," superintendent of police (Prison) Michi Paku informed in Itanagar.[caption id="attachment_432364" align="alignleft" width="380"] Behind the bars. Reuters[/caption] He also admitted that the incident happened due to security lapse and negligence of staff on duty. Further investigations are on and departmental enquiry is being conducted and actions would be taken accordingly, Paku said and added that the two among the suspended wardens are officers. Meanwhile, search are on for tracing and nabbing the escaped inmates. According to police, the escaped prisoners were seen on a bike in the early hours of 24 August near Bangalmara under Laluk police station in Assam’s North Lakhimpur district.PTI
