Shots fired near Khan Sir coaching centre, student protests erupt in Patna

A day after shots were reportedly fired near the Khan Sir coaching institute in Bihar's Patna, large numbers of students gathered outside the centre in protest, prompting authorities to deploy heavy security in the area. The incident, which left a security guard injured, occurred near Musallahpur Haat and is currently under police investigation.

The coaching institute is run by educator and YouTuber Khan Sir, who initially linked the incident to a nearby coaching centre before later stating that the matter remained under investigation and that the full details were still unclear.

Security guard injured, police begin probe

According to police, a security guard sustained injuries during the incident and is receiving treatment.

SP Kartikeya K Sharma told ANI, “Further action is being taken by recording his (guard's) statement as well as the statements of the local people.”

Authorities are continuing their investigation and gathering witness accounts to determine the circumstances surrounding the firing.

Khan Sir points to nearby coaching institute

In a video that has since gone viral, Khan Sir alleged that individuals connected to a nearby coaching institute were responsible for the incident.

“Our security guard has also identified the perpetrators – it is the people from the nearby coaching center. We need protection; this is a matter for the administration to handle... It is obvious to everyone that the nearby coaching institute is behind this,” Khan Sir was quoted as saying by ANI.

He further claimed, “It is obvious to everyone that the nearby coaching institute is behind this. They have even given the statements mentioning that they will blow up Khan Sir's coaching center…”

According to Khan Sir, some people had objected to his institute charging comparatively low fees while continuing to produce strong academic results.

“We appeal to the administration to keep security concerns in mind, recognising that the poor, too, have the right to an education. When results are produced in the thousands, certain anti-social elements tend to feel threatened. They think they can suppress us,” he said.

CCTV footage shows vandalism and stone pelting

Meanwhile, CCTV footage from outside the coaching centre surfaced on Wednesday, allegedly showing incidents of stone pelting and vandalism.

The footage appeared to show individuals throwing stones and removing banners belonging to the Khan Sir coaching institute in Patna.

Khan Sir also alleged that his office had been vandalised and said CCTV footage linked to the incident had been handed over to authorities for examination.

Khan Sir, whose real name is reported to be Faisal Khan, though never confirmed by him, remains one of India's most recognised educators and online personalities. He was also in the news last year after marrying in an intimate ceremony.
