'She was very brave and smart: Delhi DCP remembers gangrape victim

Delhi DCP Chayya Sharma who led the effort of cracking the Delhi gangrape case, said that the 23-year-old victim who was brutalised and murdered by six men on a moving bus, was extremely courageous and intelligent.[caption id="attachment_1097137" align="alignleft" width="380"] Screengrab from CNN-IBN[/caption]"She was very smart and brave. She was also very co-operative. The information we got from her and the other victim helped us crack the case quickly", she said in an interview with CNN-IBN.Recalling the state of the victim immediately after the incident, Sharma said, "it was a very bad case and the state of the victim was bad. It made us very determined to catch the culprits and quickly, and put our best professional output in the case. Her statements subsequently became dying declarations. Finally it helped us prepare a very good chargesheet."Sharma added that the pressure on the Delhi police to crack the case had been immense, but said that her seniors had given them a free had and largely insulated them from external pressures.
