RSS' Bhaiyyaji Joshi says construction of Ram temple is final in Ayodhya, nothing else can be built at disputed site

A day after Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS), the highest decision-making body of the RSS, re-elected Bhaiyyaji Joshi for a fourth term as the sarkaryavah (general-secretary), he said that the construction of Ram temple is final in Ayodhya, according to reports.He further said that nothing else can be built at the disputed site but a proper procedure has to be followed. Confident of a favourable judgment from the Supreme Court on the matter, Joshi said the construction of temple would begin after the court's order and it would be built on the basis of its verdict on the ownership of land.Replying to a question on Sri Sri Ravishankar's efforts at developing consensus between the different parties on the issue, Joshi said consensus building was not going to be easy. We, however, welcome the efforts aimed at getting a consensus, he added.   Joshi had previously said that the issue of construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is not a fight against Islam but an issue of pride, self-respect and "destroying the symbol of torture and slavery"."Is there a dearth of Ram temples in our country? The answer is no. The issue of construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is not just a simple matter of construction of a temple, or a piece of land. It is a matter of our pride, self-respect and destroying the symbol of slavery," Joshi had said while addressing a programme in Kolkata.Joshi said that when lakhs of 'Kar Sevaks' from various parts of the country moved towards Ayodhya, not a single stone was thrown towards any Islamic religious sites that came in the way.Joshi's statements on the Ram temple echo those of the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. The latter, speaking at an event organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Udupi, Karnataka, had said that 'no other structure' must come up at the disputed site at Ayodhya.With inputs from PTI
