Odd-even Gandhigiri? Apart from Rs 2,000 fine, violators to be greeted with roses

New Delhi: Violators of the odd-even rule will be fined Rs.2,000 and also greeted with roses, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday.Although people would have to cough up Rs.2,000 for violating the rule, volunteers will persuade them by giving them roses, he said.[caption id="attachment_2558902" align="alignleft" width="380"] File photo. Image courtesy: PTI[/caption]"About 10,000 NCC and NSS volunteers will offer roses to violators," Kejriwal said while unveiling the 15-day traffic rationing formula which will be implemented from 1 January.A vehicle whose registration number ends in an odd digit will be allowed on the roads on odd-numbered dates and one whose registration number ends in an even digit will be allowed to be driven on even-numbered dates.Kejriwal said volunteers also work on the car-free day -- a monthly exercise to decongest traffic and check rising pollution.IANS
