Mumbai: Six dead, two feared trapped after five-storey building collapses in Bandra

A five-storey building collapsed in suburban Bandra on Thursday afternoon with two girls feared trapped inside, fire brigade sources said.The death toll has now risen to six, reported ANI.According to an NDTV report, the fire department received the call around 1.30 pm.The building is located on Anant Kanekar Marg, Behrampada, near National School in Bandra East. Five fire engines and two ambulances rushed to the site of the collapse.First floor to 4th floor portion of the building collapsed, thereby trapping two girls as learnt from people around, fire brigade sources said.Officials said four families were staying in the building and they fear some more could be trapped inside. Search and rescue was underway in full swing, according to a report by The Hindustan Times.Efforts were underway to clear the rubble, they said. Further details were awaited.With inputs from PTI.
