Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation for two new Mumbai Metro routes and a world-class memorial for Dr. B. R. Ambedkar here on October 4, official sources said here on Tuesday.[caption id="attachment_2443392" align="alignleft" width="380"]

Image courtesy: PTI[/caption]The two new metro lines will run through the western suburbs and are expected to decongest the commuter and road traffic on these sections.While an 16.5 kms metro line will be constructed between Dahisar East and Andheri East at a cost of Rs.4,737 crore, another 18.6 km line connecting DN Nagar ad Dahisar will be built at a cost of Rs.4,994 crore.The single function for both the lines will be held at an expo centre in Goregaon.Modi will also lay the foundation stone for a memorial dedicated to Ambedkar, the chief architect of Indian constitution, at the Indu Mills Complex in Dadar.The landmark memorial will be constructed on a 12.5 acre plot of land near the existing Chaityabhoomi where Ambedkar was cremated, on the shores of Dadar Chowpatty.IANS
