MiG-21 jet crashes into field in south Kashmir, pilot dead

An Indian Air Force figher jet, a MIG 21, crashed near Bijbehara in south Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir: An Indian Air Force MiG 21 on a routine sortie crashed near Bijbehara in south Kashmir on Tuesday morning killing the pilot.The combat aircraft crashed into an open field in Bijbehara, located in Anantnag district, about an hour from Srinagar.[caption id="attachment_1544507" align="alignleft" width="380"]Image used for representational purpose only. AFP Image used for representational purpose only. AFP[/caption]According to a CNN-IBN news report, while the pilot was declared dead, the co-pilot sustained injuries. There are  no reports yet on whether any civilians were injured when the fighter jet crashed.Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah issued a message offering his condolences stating that he hopes the people on ground are safe.
