L-G calls for restructuring of Delhi Development Authority

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Wednesday ordered the "restructuring" of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) - notorious for the corruption of its bureaucracy and endemic red tape.

According to officials, the aim is to equip the capital's land owning agency with modern processes and enhance its efficiency. The DDA has been instructed to finish the exercise in the next four months.The process also includes the restructuring of the working of its various departments."The restructuring will involve a comprehensive study of the processes used for implementing various schemes of the DDA. It will identify improvement of such processes by adopting customized computerization, automation, multi-tasking, multi-skilling etc.," an official statement said.During a meeting held to discuss the restructuring plan, a comprehensive road map for the process was arrived at. The meeting was chaired by Jung and attended by various officials of the agency."The meeting discussed the detailed plan to restructure DDA operations which are consistent with present and future challenges of a large organisation such as the DDA. A comprehensive road map for restructuring DDA was arrived at the meeting," the statement said.The plan will also involve the assessment of DDA's various activities and suggest effective alternatives and measures to ensure greater productivity and better delivery of services to the public.IANS
