Krishna Ghati beheadings: Abdul Basit summoned, MEA reiterates Pakistan Army's hand in killing

Strongly protesting the mutilation of two soldiers in the Krishna Ghati sector , the Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday reiterated that the barbaric act had been committed by Pakistan Army.Addressing the media, MEA spokeperson Gopal Baglay said that the Pakistan envoy Abdul Basit had been summoned by India's foreign secretary S Jaishankar to lodge a strong protest against the 1 May incident.Bagalay told mediapersons that India had provided strong evidence pointing out Pakistan's hand in the mutilation. Responding to questions whether India has any actionable evidence against Pakistan, Bagley added that a blood trail was found leading to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir from Roza nallah. This, Baglay repeatedly said that pointed towards Pakistan's hand. He added that the infiltration by the Border Action Teams (BAT) unit of the Pakistan Army was aided by the cover fire from the Pakistani posts across the LoC.  Baglay urged the Pakistan Army to take strong action against the commanders and jawans who were involved in the attack.Reiterating India's stand against state-sponsored terrorism by Pakistan, Baglay added that the world community has supported India in its fight against terrorism.When asked whether India's policy towards terrorism has changed, the spokesperson denied it and added that it must be asked whether those who support terror have changed their ways.On 1 May, Pakistan mutilated bodies of two Indian soldiers, who were killed in Poonch firing near the Line of Control (LoC) at Udhampur on Monday, said media reports.The soldiers killed were Naib Subedar Paramjeet Singh of 22 Sikh Infantry and Head Constable Prem Sagar of 200th Battalion of BSF.According to CNN-News 18, this time, Pakistan had launched a two-pronged attack, by shelling at the border post and and BAT's attack on the patrolling team."The Pakistan Army carried out unprovoked rocket and mortar firing on two forward posts on the LOC in Krishna Ghati sector. In an unsoldierly act by the Pakistan Army, the bodies of the two soldiers in the patrol were mutilated," the Northern Command had said in a statement.With inputs from agencies
