Judges dealing with Sahara case under pressure: Justice Radhakrishnan

Justice KS Radhakrishnan, who along with Justice JS Khehar been presiding over the Sahara Group investor fraud case, has said that both judges are under tremendous pressure, according to a report on IBN-Live.According to an Indian Express report, Radhakrishnan, made the remarks at a retirement function in his honour and said, “Referring to Sahara case, I can’t say more because case is pending. But pressure, tension and strain which I have undergone is unimaginable. Already this pressure reflects on my wife and family also. It was that much a complicated case. See, it is not over so I can’t speak much on the Sahara matter.”[caption id="attachment_1517843" align="alignleft" width="380"]

He made the statement at a function hosted in Indian International Centre in his honour.Earlier this week, the bench had turned down Sahara’s habeas corpus petition, saying it was not maintainable in law.The bench had noted in strongly-worded judgement that Group deserved no relief for "systematically" frustrating and flouting all its orders with impunity on refunding investors' money.It said the group "adopted a demeanour of defiance constituting a rebellious behaviour, not amenable to the rule of law" and justified its decision to send Roy along with two promoters of the companies to jail.On 6 May, Subrata Roy had challenged the apex court's jurisdiction to detain him in jail for not refunding investors' money.Roy and the other two directors of the Group have been in judicial custody since 4 March for not abiding by the apex court's order for depositing Rs 20,000 crore of investors money with SEBI.
