Indian man held in US immigration custody over criminal record, may face deportation

A 26-year-old Indian national has been taken into federal custody by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials in Los Angeles and is now facing formal deportation proceedings, according to a statement issued by the agency.

The individual, identified as Parminderpal Singh, was arrested by ICE enforcement officers on May 21 and is currently being held at a federal immigration detention facility pending removal.

Criminal history triggered enforcement action

Federal immigration authorities said Singh’s detention was initiated due to his prior criminal record in the United States. According to ICE Los Angeles, Singh’s record includes multiple property-related offences, including vehicle theft, grand theft, trespassing and vandalism. In a statement posted publicly, the agency confirmed that he remains in custody while deportation proceedings move forward.

Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding Singh’s original US visa status, the duration of his stay in Southern California, or the scheduled date for his immigration court hearing. His removal proceedings are currently pending before federal immigration authorities.
