Hyderabad firm's mobile water-purifying plants provide lifeline to Srinagar

Srinagar: Relief material is pouring in tonnes from all over the country for flood-ravaged Kashmir but a company from Hyderabad has given a lifeline to people living in submerged areas of Srinagar city by providing them safe drinking water.[caption id="attachment_1707561" align="alignleft" width="380"] Residents wade through flood water in Srinagar. AFP[/caption]"We have brought in six mobile water purifying plants to provide safe drinking water to the flood affected people," Mohammad Aziz, a representative of Hyderabad-based Smart India Private Limited told PTI.Aziz said he has been working at the Padshahi Bagh site, close to Rajbagh and Jawahar Nagar areas, for the last four days."When people go to sleep and there is no one in need of water, that is when I switch off the purifier," he said.The water-purifying plant operated by Aziz has so far generated 2,00,000 litres of safe drinking water as each plant has a capacity of generating 2000 litres of safe water per hour.While Aziz is seen as a saviour by the locals, the Hyderabadi lad is thankful to Indian Air Force (IAF) for airlifting the machinery, including the vehicles on which it is fitted, and his colleagues to the Valley for helping the flood-hit people.He said 20 more purifiers are on their way to Kashmir for ensuring that more and more people get safe water to drink.PTI
