How a group of four engineering students changed Mumbai University's examination system

Remember how Aamir Khan's character in 3 Idiots, a film about a group of engineering students, wanted to change the education system to make-it more student friendly? Turns out, there are actually some students who did so in real life by revamping Mumbai University's examination system.A group of  four students from Thadomal Shahani College of Engineering in Mumbai designed a programme that digitised engineering examination forms, hall tickets and the entry of marks, according to a article by DNA. Hirak Modi, Marmik Pandya, Girish Prabhu and Dev Mehta, all from graduating in computer science and IT were aided in this mission by effort by Mumbai University's controller of exams Dinesh Bhonde.[caption id="attachment_2398640" align="alignleft" width="380"] Representational image of Mumbai University. Image Credit: Official website[/caption]It all began when they received their results and realised that the marks in one paper were far lower than what they expected and the photocopies of the answer sheets confirmed this.Now, any student who has passed out from Mumbai University understands that its system of handling administrative work leaves a lot to be desired. From delayed results to misspelled documents, most students have had to face some inconvenience due to MU's errors. However, very few students have actually done something about this. But these four decided to take matters in their own hand.They four went to Mumbai University and once they met Bhonde, he admitted the error and in fact, offered them a job to rectify it for the future, continues the report.Now they have created a new system that engineering students all over the city are already benefiting from.  "With the help of their programme, we could declare the engineering results of 40,000 candidates in the first and final years of 2014-15 in a record time of one month, Hiring them turned out to be a good move.
