French diplomatic employee Pascal Mazurier has been officially chargesheeted for the rape of his three-year-old daughter in a Bangalore court, according to a report by the Times Now television channel. Mazurier has been charged under section 376 (2F) of the penal code which pertains to the rape of a girl under 12 yrs of age.[caption id="attachment_458657" align="alignleft" width="380"] Mazurier coming out of the police station in Bangalore: PTI[/caption]Mazurier, deputy Head of Chancery in the Consulate of France, was arrested on 19 June on a complaint by his wife Suja Jones Mazurier, a native of Kerala, alleging that he had raped their four-year-old daughter. The issue led to a public outrage before the diplomat was arrested.Mazurier has appealed for bail on a number of occasions, citing discrepancies in the collecting of evidence in the case, but these have all been denied so far.Mazurier, in his petition, had pointed out that as per the report of the test conducted by the Forensic Sciences Laboratory (Bangalore), his DNA profile did not match with that of the child.He has also accused his wife Suja Jones of framing him.
