Latest updates: Mumbai Police has issued a statement and said that Roy, in his suicide note, had said he was suffering from depression.A forensics team has arrived at former the Maharashtra ATS chief’s residence, reports ANI. Mumbai police are yet to find a suicide note left by Roy.India Today reports that there has been no official statement from the Mumbai Police on Himanshu Roy's death yet. It added that the body is in Gokuldas Tejpal Hospital for post-mortem.According to NDTV, Himanshu Roy used to talk to colleagues about retiring early from the police force.The IPS Association said it had lost a "fiercely brave officer". The news channel also said that he was taken to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.He shot himself at around 1.40 pm on Friday with his service revolver.In November 2016, Roy was appointed as additional director general (establishment) in Maharashtra.A 1988-batch officer, Roy had also worked as the joint commissioner of police (crime) in Mumbai.Roy had led the investigation into the IPL betting scandal and the murders of Laila Khan and her relatives.According to India Today, other high-profile cases he was involved in include the firing on Dawood's brother's driver and the murder of journalist J Dey.During Roy's tenure as Maharashtra ATS chief, software engineer Anees Ansari was arrested for allegedly planning to blow up the American school at the Bandra Kurla complex.With inputs from agencies
