The Goa police have found two empty bottles of cough syrup from the room where Suchana Seth, CEO of a startup in Bengaluru, was lodging in the land of beaches. As per cops, Suchana had pre-planned murder of her son and the finding of cough syrup bottles indicates she might have given a heavy dose of the medicine to him, PTI reported, citing officials.A senior police officer said, during the inspection of the service apartment room at Candolim in Goa where Suchana stayed, two empty cough syrup bottles, one large and one small, were recovered.Suchana is the CEO of 'The Mindful AI Lab', and as per her LinkedIn profile, she is an AI ethics expert and data scientist with over 12 years of experience in mentoring data science teams, and scaling machine learning solutions at startups and industry research labs.Did Bengaluru CEO pre-planned son's murder?"We are examining the possibility if the woman gave a heavy dose of cough syrup to the child before putting him to death," a police official said."It looks like a pre-planned murder," the official added.Police said during the investigation, one of the service apartment staff members revealed that Suchana had requested the purchase of a small bottle of cough syrup, claiming she had a cough. The larger bottle might have been carried by her, raising suspicions of premeditation.Bengaluru CEO son's postmortem reportThe postmortem revealed the child's cause of death was smothering with either a cloth or a pillow, officials said. The report showed no signs of struggle.Suchana allegedly killed her son in the apartment in Goa's Candolim where she checked in on 6 January. Before checking out on 8 January for Bengaluru, she stuffed the body in a bag and hopped on in a taxi, police said. She was arrested from Chitradurga in Karnataka on Monday night and brought to Goa on Tuesday. A court in Mapusa town of Goa remanded her in police custody for six days. The child's father, Venkat Raman, who was in Jakarta (Indonesia), reached Hiriyur in Chitradurga on Tuesday night and took possession of his son's body after postmortem.Suchana Seth denies killing sonCiting police sources, PTI report said during the interrogation, the accused has denied her involvement in the crime and claimed the child was already dead when she woke up from sleep."We don't buy her theory. Further investigation will reveal the motive behind killing the child. As of now, we know that she and her husband were estranged because of which she might have done this," the report quoted a senior police official as saying. With inputs from PTI
