Delhi pollution: Nothing can be solved unless AAP govt takes action, says Environment Ministry

In an attempt to find a possible solution for the toxic air pollution in Delhi, the Environment Ministry held a meeting on Monday and Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, recognised dust as one of the major reasons for the pollution.Minister Anil Dave also said that unless the state government takes an initiative, nothing could be solved. He also urged the AAP government to sprinkle water according to the plan. The New Delhi Municipal Council sprinkled water using jet pressure.PWD Minister Satyendar Jain also tweeted about the same.The priority, as Dave points out, is to make the air pollution free for people to breathe and there must not be any blame-game. Dismissing reports that burning of crop stubble from neighbouring states leads to major air pollution in Delhi, he said that 80 percent of the problem in Delhi is derived from here itself.In an emergency meeting convened by the Delhi government, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the government’s plan to tackle air pollution included the use of emission-control devices, resuming vacuum cleaning of arterial roads, sprinkling water on streets, and cutting dust pollution from construction sites.Municipal schools in north and east Delhi will remain closed till Wednesday, while those in south Delhi will remain shut for the entire week due to the alarming pollution levels in the national capital.With inputs from PTI
