Delhi ATM heist: Robbers snatch Rs 1.5 cr, shoot guard dead

A daylight heist took place in the capital today as two robbers on a bike opened fire at a private company's security guard and took away about Rs.1.5 crore from a cash van.

New Delhi: A daylight heist took place in the capital today as two robbers on a bike opened fire at a private company's security guard and took away about Rs.1.5 crore from a cash van."Two people came on a motorcycle and opened fire at the security guard and took away a bag containing cash around Rs.1.5 crore," Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Goel told IANS.[caption id="attachment_1817493" align="alignleft" width="380"]Representational image. AFP[/caption]The incident took place around 11 in the morning when the van was refilling a Citibank ATM in north Delhi's Kamla Nagar market area.The robbers shot at the guard stationed outside the van when he tried to retaliate. The guard has succumbed to his injuries, reports CNN IBN.The guard was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.According to this Hindustan Times report, a case of murder, armed robbery has been registered at the Roop Nagar police station. CCTV cameras installed near the crime spot are being scanned to establish the identity of the criminals and other crucial leads pertaining to the case.With inputs from IANS.
