Court defers verdict on disproportionate assets case against Jaya to 27 Sept

Bangalore: A special court in Bangalore on Tuesday deferred by a week to 27 September pronouncement of its verdict in the disproportionate assets case against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and three others.[caption id="attachment_1715407" align="alignleft" width="380"]

PTI[/caption]Also, the court will deliver its verdict at the makeshift location of Gandhi Bhavan near Parapanna Agrahara Central Prison in view of security to be provided to Jayalalithaa, who enjoys Z category security, for her personal appearance.Jayalalithaa had on Monday filed a petition before the special court judge John Michael Cunha, who had earlier fixed 20 September for his verdict, seeking security cover for appearing before it.The deferment is to facilitate city police to make security arrangements at the makeshift location, the court said.The court had recorded the statements of Jayalalithaa at Gandhi Bhavan in 2011 by temporarily shifting the location from the city due to security to be provided for her.The court had directed all the four accused, including Jayalalithaa, to appear before it on the day of judgement, coming after 18 year long proceedings.Jayalalithaa has been charged with accumulating Rs 66 crore wealth disproportionate to known sources of her income from 1991-96 in her first term as Chief Minister.PTI
