Badaun constable accused of rape caught trying to board Delhi-bound train

Bareilly: One of the two constables on the run after allegedly raping a minor inside a police station premises in Badaun on New Year eve was today arrested in the wee hours when he was about to board a Delhi-bound train here.[caption id="attachment_2014709" align="alignleft" width="380"] Representational image. Reuters[/caption]Constable Avnish Yadav was picked up from the railway station at around 1 AM by the Special Task Force and local police, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajiv Malhotra said.He said that police were also looking for the second accused Veerpal Yadav and he would be arrested soon. Both the constables have been dismissed. The 14-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and gangraped by the two constables at Musajhag Police Station.Night duty incharge of the police station Himanshu Shukla and head constable Udayveer Singh have also been suspended. Sub-inspector Sobharan Singh Yadav has been taken off active duty. IG, Law and Order, A Satish Ganesh had told reporters that medical examination of the girl had confirmed the rape.A financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh had been given to the family members of the victim from the CM fund, according to officials.PTI
