AgustaWestland scam: CBI questions Andhra Governor Narasimhan

The CBI on Wednesday questioned Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan in Hyderabad in connection with alleged graft in the procurement of AgustaWestland VVIP choppers for 556.262 million euros (Rs.3,726.96 crore), officials said.

Hyderabad/New Delhi: The CBI on Wednesday questioned Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan in Hyderabad in connection with alleged graft in the procurement of AgustaWestland VVIP choppers for 556.262 million euros (Rs.3,726.96 crore), officials said.[caption id="attachment_1610547" align="alignleft" width="380"]Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan. PTI[/caption]Officials said that the questioning started around 11.30 a.m. and is likely to continue for the next three to four hours.Narasimhan was questioned as a witness in the case.Narasimhan, 68, is the third governor to be quizzed in the case by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which previously questioned former Goa governor BV Wanchoo and former West Bengal governor MK Narayanan.The agency interrogated Narayanan and Wanchoo last week as witnesses and they resigned soon after.A CBI team from New Delhi reached Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday to question Narasimhan.PTI
