The wife and son of an independent candidate contesting the 15 April Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections were shot at.

New Delhi: The wife and son of an independent candidate contesting the 15 April Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections were shot at and injured here Wednesday by their landlord over payment of a power bill, police said.The landlord has been arrested.[caption id="attachment_267035" align="alignleft" width="380" caption="AFP"]
[/caption]The wife and son of SK Upadhyay, who is contesting the civic elections from Vijay Vihar in north Delhi, were rushed to hospital.His wife Suman Lata, 51, received a bullet injury in her abdomen and son Guruvender was hit in his right hand, police said.Upadhyay had come home for lunch after campaigning when his landlord Sulender Singh came along with four people and the two got into an argument.After opening fire, the landlord and his men fled from the scene.PTI
