Mumbai airport shut for half an hour, flights diverted due to rains

Mumbai: The city airport remained shut for operations for around half an hour on Monday evening due to heavy rains and poor visibility, resulting in diversion of 8 flights.[caption id="attachment_364741" align="alignleft" width="380" caption="Reuters"][/caption]"The runway operations remained closed between 7.55 pm and 8.30 pm due to strong tailwinds and poor visibility. There were no operations on the two runways during this time," a Mumbai International Airport Ltd spokesperson said.Eight flights were diverted to nearby airports during the runway closure time, a Mumbai airport official said.The operations, however, resumed at 8.35 pm, the MIAL spokesperson said without divulging the flight details.PTI
