Activists arrested for protesting Dalit's death in TN

Coimbatore: Twelve activists of Samatuva Munnani were arrested today when they attempted to burn the effigy of PMK leader S Ramdoss, to protest the death of a Dalit youth Ilavarasan in Dharmapuri.

The agitators raised slogans against the PMK and its leaders and attempted to burn the effigy near District Court Complex and sought immediate inquiry into the incident, in

which Ilavarasan's body was found near railway track yesterday, after his wife said whe would never go back to him.

However, all of them were taken into custody.

Ilavarasn's marriage to a caste Hindu girl triggered anti-Dalit violence in three villages of Dharmapuri in November last.
