21 Indian sailors safe after pirate attack

The Shipping Ministry says 21 crew members of a merchant ship hijacked off the coast of Nigeria are safe after naval forces in that area rescued them.

New Delhi: The Shipping Ministry says 21 crew members of a merchant ship hijacked off the coast of Nigeria are safe after naval forces in that area rescued them. A ministry statement said there were one Ukrainian and 20 Indian crew members on board the Norwegian-flagged MV Spar Rigel.It said pirates attacked the ship on Tuesday and the crew locked themselves into a saferoom on board until help arrived.It didn't say which country's navy came to their rescue.
