SP says initial leads indicate they will get majority

Uttar Pradesh: The Samajwadi Party today said that they are confident of getting a majority in Uttar Pradesh and the Congress' attempt to polarise voters has failed.[caption id="attachment_235381" align="alignleft" width="380" caption="The SP was jubilant after initial leads were announced. We will cross 203 (seats) on our own and we look like we are close to that," Kamal Farooqi of the SP told CNN-IBN in Lucknow after trends indicated the party was well in the lead.When asked about the possible success of the BJP in the state, he said, "I think the Brahmin vote has shifted from the BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) to the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party). The Congress was also aiming for that but have not been able to get it."He claimed the Congress had attempted to polarise the electorate on the basis of caste and religion but it had failed to work for the party. "It is unfortunate that a party like the Congress party has done it (tried to polarise)," Farooqi said.SP supporters in the party headquarters were jubilant with many of them cheering and shouting slogans as the leads were announced.
