TrendMicro buys TippingPoint from HP; to create Network Defense business unit

HP has agreed to sell its network security business TippingPoint to Trend Micro for $300 million. "The acquisition positions Trend Micro as the go-to enterprise security provider of dynamic threat defense solutions spanning endpoints, network, data centre and the cloud," Trend Micro said in a statement.Trend Micro said will also combine current and acquired capabilities to create a Network Defense business unit, serving more than 3,500 enterprise customers.[caption id="attachment_2000159" align="alignleft" width="380"]

Post acquisition, HP and Trend Micro will form a strategic partnership with TippingPoint around re-sale, managed services and OEM activities, as well as security intelligence, app security and data security.
