Flipkart appoints IT veteran Garikipati as 'Entrepreneur in Residence'

Bengaluru: eCommerce giant Flipkart today announced the appointment of IT industry veteran Ravi Garikipati in a newly created role 'Entrepreneur in Residence'.[caption id="attachment_2268090" align="alignleft" width="380"]

Image courtesy Flipkart[/caption]In this role, Ravi will be working closely with Sachin, Binny (co-founders) and Mukesh Bansal (Head of Commerce) on new and high impact business projects, Flipkart said. He will focus on driving innovative changes for these projects, which is a mix of new independent and existing businesses, Flipkart said in a release, adding that his first assignment will be to help it scale up new ads initiative.Flipkart said Garikipati has over 25 years experience in building and leading global products and businesses. Before joining Flipkart, as head of [24]7 Innovation Labs, Garikipati was responsible for overall strategy and development of all products.Prior to that, he was the SVP at Vendio, which grew to have more than 2.5 million online sellers and was eventually acquired by Alibaba, the company said. "This is the first time such a role is being created in the organisation and the possibilities that open up for the future as a result of this are immense. After all, we are all entrepreneurs at heart and we want to actively keep that spirit alive across all businesses and divisions here," Flipkar CEO and co-founder Sachin Bansal said. PTI
