Sify Teams With Hitachi Data Systems For On-Demand Storage

Sify Technologies, a player in the consumer Internet and enterprise services space in India with global delivery capabilities, has announced the launch of its SLA-driven, utility-based, on-demand storage service to manage the complete lifecycle of enterprise information from its inception to its final disposal. The on-demand, scalable storage platform is powered by Hitachi Data Systems.

Pradip J Nath, President, Sify Technologies, said, "Sify’s on-demand storage service provides an alternative to traditional, on-site, dedicated storage systems, which are mostly procured on ad-hoc basis. In today’s unpredictable business environment, IT departments most often either end up procuring higher capacity upfront to meet unexpected demands or fall short of capacity when the storage systems are critically needed."

The new service is combined with Hitachi Data Systems’ Hitachi Adaptable SAN Storage and Hitachi NAS to securely virtualise IT assets into consolidated, easy-to-manage pools of IT resources that can be provisioned as needed to support a wide range of applications and data types from a single, integrated infrastructure that is secure, reliable, scalable, and agile in the face of changing demands. The service also offers an availability guarantee of 99.99 percent on the storage system to meet specific application and business uptime requirements.

With the new service, companies can rely on Sify for a unified storage pool (SAN/ NAS), for their applications’ needs, ranging from the most demanding database environment to secondary back-up needs.
