NCR-Symstream Intro Wireless ATM Connectivity Solution

NCR Corporation in an alliance with an Australian-based wireless-technology company Symstream Technology Group has introduced a wireless connectivity solution - Symstream II for its automated teller machines (ATMs).

Symstream II wireless modem will help banks in India to deploy ATMs in the most remote sites, enabling them to offer micro banking services to the unbanked rural population by using GSM connectivity.

The solution uses voice channel, which claims to make it more reliable and fast. This technology is designed using proprietary algorithm-based symbols which make it more secure, unlike traditional communication channels using data packets. The GSM network features allows Symstream to provide reliable solution for natural disasters like floods, hurricane and network service disruptions which commonly occurs in India.
