Godrej Agrovet Empowers Rural India With SAP
SAP ERP has been integrated with a farm management system.
Godrej Agrovet (GAVL) and SAP AG has announced the completion of GAVL's implementation of SAP software, achieving operational efficiency through centralisation of data across a regional network of more than 10,000 rural distributors, 18000 farmers and 1900 employees. With business software from SAP, the agribusiness leader is able to provide its entire ecosystem with real-time information through SMS and e-mail alerts, leading to greater productivity and enhanced satisfaction.
As part of the implementation, the enterprise resource planning (ERP) application SAP ERP has been integrated with a farm management system through which farmers in the oil-palm plantation business are provided a radio-frequency identification (RFID) card that contains all key details about the soil, produce, history of the land ownership and personal details, yields, fertilisers used as well as the details of fruits supplied to GAVL.
"Our mission is to improve the productivity of Indian farmers by innovating products and services that sustainably increase crop and livestock yields. Our alliance with SAP has provided GAVL a single view of the various critical business processes across the organisation, and helps us achieve operational excellence, leading to greater cus¬tomer satisfaction and loyalty," said S.Varadaraj, Executive Vice-President (Finance & Systems), Godrej Agrovet Limited.
"Customers are continuously exploring technologies to help them reach out to remote sections of the society," said Suprakash Chaudhuri, Vice President, Enterprise Sales, SAP Indian subcontinent. "By helping improve economics across the entire agricultural segment and enabling farmers to access new markets in the country, the SAP deployment at Godrej Agrovet underscores the business value and transformative power of SAP software to make our customers and the world run better."
