10,000 votes registered on Firstvote, BJP leads the pack

While social media status updates, blogging and tweets are all media by which the average Indian can express his or her opinion about the current political regime, actually registering a vote is the ultimate expression of opinion.[caption id="attachment_1078567" align="alignleft" width="380"] A screen grab of voter demographics on First vote[/caption]Almost 12 crore Indians will become eligible to vote in the next upcoming Lok Sabha elections, and the importance of getting them all to vote cannot be underscored enough.It was with this in mind that Network 18 launched Firstvote, where users could register their preferences for who would govern them in upcoming polls and also register for voter id cards if they do not have them.The response so far has been tremendous with over 10,000 people already registering their votes.This is a quick look at what the voter verdict on the site has been so far:leading parties:BJP:(72.56%)Pattali Makkal Katchi:(10.99%)Telugu Desam:(7.12%)Congress:(7.07%)MNS:(2.26%)Voter demographics:Male voters: 9514Female voters: 524A majority of voters (47 percent) were in the 25 - 34 demographic, while 36 percent were in the 18-24 age group.
