Volvo XC40 accidentally revealed ahead of 21 September launch

Volvo 2018 XC40 was earlier teased with a trailer before its official launch scheduled on 21 September. However, according to a report by Carscoops Volvo Hungary seems to have leaked an uncut version of the above-mentioned teaser, which gave us a proper glimpse at the new compact SUV.[caption id="attachment_4048141" align="alignleft" width="380"]

Image Courtesy : Carscoops[/caption]Carscoops claims that the XC40 resembles the previously launched Volvo 40.1 concept, with the exception of the door mirrors and hidden-rear door handles. This car is built upon the new CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) and has a 5-seater cabin layout which resembles the current Volvo models.Looking at the photos the car's interiors look quite plush and premium which is not a surprise considering it's a Volvo. The touchscreen infotainment system is located at the centre of the dashboard and is vertically placed as is with other newer Volvo models.

According to the report, the XC40 would be Volvo's first automobile to use the company's Compact Modular Architecture (CMA). This the same architecture that is also used by Volvo's current owners, Geely Automobile Holdings Limited,  a Chinese multinational automotive manufacturing company located in Hangzhou.Volvo had earlier said that the new range could utilize the company's new 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, turbo gasoline engine. Also expected is a twin engine, plug-in hybrid model, which pairs an electric motor to a 3 cylinder engine. The plug-in hybrid model would be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.While pricing details can be expected only after the XC40 is announced, the vehicle is expected to compete with the Range Rover, the Audi Q3 and perhaps the Jaguar E-Pace which is yet to launch.
